BBMak live in concert at The Loft in Atlanta on April 18, 2019. / Karah

On Saturday evening, I was lucky enough to go see BBMak, the British band from the early 2000s that is best known for their hit “Back Here.”

And guess what? BBMak IS back here and better than they ever were.

They started the night off with “Out of my Heart” and ended it with their hits, “The Ghost of You and Me” and of course, “Back Here.”

I always loved the group, even back in the day and have continued to listen to their music through the years because it was just so good. They were hella underrated back in the day of all the “cute, good-looking guys” who sung. Would I consider them a boy band? Absolutely not. They don’t dance.

One thing that hit me more by seeing them live in concert is their harmonies. Their harmonies are so good that I feel like they should be ranked right up there with Boyz II Men and the Backstreet Boys.

Sure, you can hear the harmonies on the albums, but in person, it’s just so much more apparent. They did a cover of Extreme’s “More Than Words” and it gave me chills. Only a few artists have ever given me chills like that.

They performed a few new songs, including their latest single, “Bullet Train,” along with another called “Civil War” that I wish I had recorded because it was SO. GOOD.

And Mark, Christian, and Ste, please come back to Atlanta soon!
