To say the least, the 2010s were a good decade for the Backstreet Boys.

Just off the release of their album “This Is Us” in 2009, the boys embarked on a tour supporting the album, and then joined forces with New Kids on the Block for NKOTBSB. This led them back to playing arenas, something they had not done in a while.

Note: This photo is from BackstreetBoys.com and I’ve been caught several times in official photos taking photos of that same exact moment. This photo that I’m taking a picture of almost was in this post, but decided against it.

If you know me, you know that not having a camera at a concert is something I don’t like to do. Since I was a teenager, concert photography has always been one of my favorite things. I even worked as a concert photographer for about two years once at a venue that the Backstreet Boys came to in my hometown.

Note: I will be sporadically posting things from the cruise over the next few days and weeks, but wanted to start off with this event, which is possibly one of the highlights of my life.

I know saying that me winning a BSB trivia game show on the 2018 Backstreet Boys cruise is a highlight of my life might sound a little sad, but to me, it’s important. Why? I just celebrated my 20th anniversary of being a fan and I take a lot of pride in the work I’ve done in the fandom over those twenty years – from writing fan fiction and owning a fan site to writing for BackstreetBoys.com and helping moderate the Facebook group for fan club members.

But to be able to experience winning that with my favorite boy, Nick, obviously, is I guess what made it so special. We talked about how I was going to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of becoming a fan on the boat back at Walker Stalker in October. Becoming a BSB fan is what saved my life many times when I really kind of wanted to end it.

Watching back over the video, I feel kind of like a know-it-all, but I don’t regret showing how much I love the Backstreet Boys. I’m glad I could impress Nick and the BSB team with all my useless knowledge I’ve kept in my brain for 20 years.

Also, you can finally see how we banter back and forth a lot. This is how it’s always been with us.

Nick, you’re the best game show host, ever.

If you have videos or photos of BSBHQ, I would LOVE to see them. You can email me at [email protected] <3
